Job purpose

Inventory Control Specialist

  • Follow and promote safe work practices
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels meet operational needs to eliminate shortages
  • Monitor, track, and reconcile incoming, outgoing, and stored inventory
  • Conduct regular physical counts and audits to ensure accuracy between physical and system records
  • Use Kanban system to process orders, update databases, and analyze stock trends
  • Coordinate with purchasing, pre-construction, PM’s, and other internal departments
  • Support continuous improvement of inventory processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Promote and cultivate positive culture among all employees.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed, up-to-date inventory records including transfers, adjustments, and cycle counts
  • Oversee all in-house stored materials, ensuring they are safely stored, highly organized, and clearly identified and labeled by part number and/or job name and PO number
  • Monitor stock levels and manage reorder points to avoid shortages or excess inventory using the Kanban system
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Receive, unpack, and deliver goods as needed
  • Collaborate with purchasing on orders; tracking order status, and investigating order-related issues
  • Review product codes, documentation, and labeling for accuracy
  • Prepare and provide reporting updates to management
  • Collaborate with purchasing, pre-construction, and PM’s to ensure inventory aligns with operational needs
  • Manage and document product returns in accordance with established procedures
  • Recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and workflow

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and handling inventory
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Able to work 40-50 hours per week
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Forklift certified

Working conditions

This position may require both warehouse and office work. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, and warehouse equipment. Proper safety gear is required to minimize exposure and ensure safe working conditions.

Physical requirements

This position may require standing for extended periods, lifting and moving inventory items, performing repetitive tasks, and operating warehouse equipment.
